Card players will love this set of four "cardfans" from the 1940s-1950s. As per the instructions on the original box, you simply "arrange cards as usual - then insert complete hand in cardfan". Each is made of blue plastic with a painted gold tone leaf design and measures 4 ¼" wide by 3" long. The 7 3/8" wide by 6 ¼" long box proclaims: "relaxes hand", "keeps cards clean" and "eliminates fumbling and rearranging". They are made of "Monsanto Lustrex" (with the Good Housekeeping seal) by Eastern Plastics, Inc. of Fairfield, CT. Totally wild! This plastic eyeglass leash measures 38" long by 1" wide and is made up of glittery blue and turquoise and two-tone (blue-green to black) links. These are joined by oval links in blue, light blue and aqua shades that are doubled with the exception of the last two links on each end. I adore this beautiful vintage hand mirror with beveled glass. It measures 5 1/8" long by 2" wide and is made of a soft gold tone metal….ornate nouveau style open work for the handle with flourish and floral overlays on the sides, and the front and back of the mirror frame. Here are four fabulous FRENCH dishes that are perfect for your bridge table or just a great accent piece for card lovers in general. Each is made of ceramic with rich gold tone edges (both inside and out) and the symbols of each suit hand painted at center. They measure 3 1/8" wide by 2 ½" long and are marked "L. MADE IN FRANCE" in script, with two more words below that I cannot make out. I consider these to be in quite good condition; with no chips or cracks and there does not appear to be any crazing to the glaze. Here's a wonderful, whimsical mouse shaped change purse from the 1950s. Made by SIRIS in HONG KONG (marked on the inside), it has a sky blue, matte vinyl (plastic) front and back with shiny red plastic lips and black plastic hair/ears. Big, showy and one-of-a-kind, this 36 ½" belt (can hook anywhere to make it smaller) features seven large chunks of BEACH GLASS in gold tone metal wire, ball, and rope work caging. Each piece of glass is unique in shape and size, frosted from contact with waves, sand and rocks. There are four clear pieces, two soft green and one cobalt….the longest of which (a clear piece) measures 2 ½" long by 1 1/8" wide. Additionally there is a large art glass ball drop (7/8" diameter) with gold tone chain fringes and a cobalt blue glass ball at the end of the belt opposite the hook closure. The links of the belt are doubled and made of heavy gold tone metal…add to that all of the glass dangles and you have one weighty piece. This fabulous pincushion and more is a product of the days when quality was the standard and innovative designers really tried to think of everything. Made in JAPAN, it stands 5 ¾" tall and measures 3 7/8" wide. The red velvet pincushion swivels around to reveal a handy mirror. But that's not quite all…the upper section of the pedestal conceals a 36" tape measure, although only 35" are useable. As if all of that weren't useful enough, the entire pedestal can be removed from the base to find a compartment containing the ORIGINAL six spools of thread (white, black, green, peach, gray and lilac), a thimble and a needle! It is in very good condition with the following 'warts' noted: spotting to the mirror (common with age), some spotting to the chrome finish (also common with age), and not really a wart, but there are pin holes in the velvet, as it was sold to me with pins in it. He is a solid piece of metal, coated with white and accented in gold tone with a prong set, simulated turquoise rhinestone collar and eyes. In their ORIGINAL PACKAGING, which suggests such uses as paper clips and glass markers, there are twelve in all, each made of wood and dyed various vibrant colors.
